Is Alicia Machado’s crossover finally happening? The former Miss Universe has been trying to jump to the other side of the pond as an actress for quite some time now, and it looks like anything is possible for the Venezuelan beauty queen.
Earlier this week, the 39-year-old celebrity shared a photo on social media that had many of her fans and followers wondering if the moment had finally arrived for the Maracay native.
“Great things happening. Hollywood is good to me. A pleasure and an honor to meet you, blessings!” she wrote next to a photo of her and Hollywood’s renowned director Quentin Tarantino.
Even though Machado didn’t share any further details about the post or specified if the photo was a result of a random encounter or a meeting with the acclaimed filmmaker, her admirers showered her with compliments and questions about the nature of the image.
“Tarantino? Are you doing PR beautiful?” asked fan Danny Furlong. Machado has yet to address the rumors.
This wouldn’t be the first time Tarantino casts a Latino actor in one of his movies. In 2007, Rosario Dawson played “Abernathy” in the one-of-a-kind “Death Proof.” Salma Hayek and Antonio Banderas had roles in the quirky comedy “Four Rooms,” and Demián Bichir starred as “Bob” in the Academy Award nominated film “The Hateful Eight.”
Machado was last seen as “Claudia Ordaz” in “Lo Imperdonable,” co-starring Ana Brenda Contreras and Iván Sánchez. Besides having a number of telenovela credits under her belt, she has also had the chance to show her acting skills on the big screen in Mexican movies such as, “Cansada de Besar Sapos” (2006) and “Dios o Demonio” (2007).
Back in 2013, she announced she was preparing to play Jenni Rivera in the upcoming film about “La Diva de la Banda’s” life and talked about the subject again during a press conference in Mexico City in October 2015. Rivera’s family denied she was being considered for the role.
