Adonis Losada, who played “Doña Concha” in Univision’s “Sábado Gigante” was sentenced to 10 years in jail after a jury found him guilty of owning and transmitting child porn. He was facing a minimum of 50 years behind bars, but the majority of the charges were dropped because the law required that he was only charged for accessing and transmitting the images, and not for the number of images he had. "The language of the statute emphasizes the use of the computer and not the number of images," said Palm Beach County Circuit Judge Karen Miller.
Losada was first arrested in 2009 after chatting with an undercover police detective from Boynton Beach in a chat room for pedophiles. The actor sent two batches of “heinous” pics, depicting adults having sex with toddlers, prosecutors said. “We’ve never seen images of children so young,” Assistant State Attorney Gregory Schiller said, according to the Palm Beach Post. “None of the children, who were shown engaged in sexual activity, were older than age 5.”
After being arrested, Miami-Dade officers went to Losada’s house and found thousands of pornographic images, which means he could be facing more jail time. The disgraced entertainer is representing himself after firing his lawyer before trial. He was uncooperative and when he was given a chance to speak, he talked about having constitutional rights. When Judge Miller let him go with a 10-year sentence and credit for his time served since 2009, prosecutors weren’t happy.
“I don’t think time less than the maximum -- I don’t think any probationary period is going to rehabilitate Mr. Losada,” Schiller said, according to the Sun Sentinel. "In all my years of doing these kinds of cases, I've never seen images [of children] this young, or so horrible and heinous."
