The Infante family is in mourning following the passing of Angélica Infante on Wednesday. The actress, singer, and feminist activist was the great niece of legendary Mexican actor and singer Pedro Infante.

According to journalist Chava Rock, Angélica had been hospitalized for at least two days due to health complications and was discharged but passed away shortly after.

"This morning, singer, actress, humanist, and feminist Angélica Infante has passed away," Chava Rock announced on Instagram.

Her brother, Pedro Luis Infante, confirmed the news via Facebook.

"The Infante-Gamboa family is devastated by the passing of our beloved sister, Angélica Infante, who is now in the presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We will provide funeral details later. Thank you for your prayers; they are deeply appreciated," he shared.

Pedro also honored his sister by sharing her song 'Lo tengo que entender' from her album 'Fémina.'

Fans and friends took to social media to express their condolences with statements like "Condolences to her family and loved ones," "Such sad news, Chava. Angélica was always so kind. May she rest in peace," "Rest in peace," "Our dear friend and colleague Angélica, you will always be in our hearts," and "Angélica was full of good energy. We will remember her fondly."

A passion for music

Beyond her connection to Pedro Infante, Angélica built a respected career in Mexican music, excelling in rock with a unique style. She was part of bands like Exceso and Gatas de Callejón before pursuing a solo career.

Angélica also left her mark in film, starring in movies such as 'Seducción y muerte', 'El Cazador,' 'Reportero de modelos,' 'Ataca el chupacabras,' 'El Vampiro enamorado,' and 'El Taxista querendón,' among others.

A compassionate activist

A strong advocate for women's rights, she led initiatives like the First Festival Dedicated to Rock & Roll Women in 2000 and wrote the song 'Mujer,' a powerful protest against femicide.

Cause of death

According to Chava Rock, Angélica suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, which she could not overcome. She passed away on the morning of February 5.

Her funeral services are being held at Gayosso Félix Cuevas in Benito Juárez, Mexico City.
