A former "Sex Education" actor was arrested and found guilty of raping and sexually abusing multiple young girls during acting classes.
Alexander Westwood, 24, used his minor celebrity status to groom and manipulate young aspiring actors, according to The Sun.
The prosecution dated his predatory behavior to when he was just 10 years old after showing a "fascination" with pornography, and continuing for more than a decade. Under the guise of acting instruction, he coerced his victims—some as young as nine—into degrading and abusive situations, often leveraging contracts and threats to silence them.
In December, Westwood was convicted of 26 charges, including rape and sexual assault, at Wolverhampton Crown Court. Prosecutors described his crimes as a "campaign of sexual offending" that had devastating effects on at least five victims.
One teenage victim was forced to recite Shakespeare monologues while naked, while another was made to act out disturbing scenes from Greek mythology.
Some victims were threatened with financial penalties if they attempted to leave his acting classes. The court also heard disturbing details of further abuse, including forcing a young girl to drink his urine and inciting a young boy into sexual acts.
In addition to his prison sentence, Westwood has been placed under restraining orders to prevent any further contact with his victims.
