Months of speculation went by before Charlie Hunnam was cast as Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film adaptation. But last weekend, the "Sons Of Anarchy" actor dropped the role in an unexpected turn of events. "The filmmakers of 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey," Universal's official statement read. Author EL James also weighed in on the matter, but didn't seem too upset. "I wish Charile all the best," she tweeted. Dakota Johnson is still cast in the role of Anastasia Steele.

The 33-year-old recently admitted he wasn't as rough and ready to play the sexy CEO as originally thought, and an insider even revealed that he got cold feet. "He wanted to get out of the movie because he was feeling like it would be his version of Showgirls and he didn't want to be remembered for that," the source said, later adding, "Nor is Charlie ready for the celebrity he would receive if the movie worked out. Add that with the studio execs being highly disappointed by the reaction to the casting, they wanted to start over with a clean slate."

After the news of Hunnam's departure from the project, many hopefuls began proposing Matt Bomer and Ian Somerhalder again, which are the public's top choices. However, we've found out that the studio has other people in mind. Jamie Dornan (known for the U.K. drama "The Fall," Calvin Klein model and ex-beau of Keira Knightley), and Alexander Skarsgard ("True Blood") are the top 2 choices that Universal is looking at for the role of billionaire Christian Grey, alongside other names that featured on their initial list that include Theo James ("Divergent"), and Christian Cooke (the new "Romeo and Juliet").
