The movie adaptation of EL James' best-selling novel "50 Shades Of Gray" has started shooting this week, and we've just found out that they recruited British singer-songwriter Rita Ora as a new addition to the film. But don't be skeptical just yet. Rita has some acting experience as she has made guest appearances on "90210" and in the latest "Fast & Furious" movie, "Fast Six." This performer will definitely bring the glamour to the Sam Taylor-Johnson directed film and will join a well-rounded cast that includes Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey, Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, Luke Grimes, Eloise Mumford and Jennifer Ehle.
But who will Rita Ora play? The artist took to her Twitter account the announcement on Monday, Dec. 2. "It's official!" she wrote. "I've been cast in @FiftyShades of Grey as Christian's sister Mia." In the books, Mia Grey is the adopted daughter of Carrick Grey and Dr. Grace Trevelyan Grey, and adopted younger sister of brothers Christian and Elliot Grey. She is described as a bubbly and outgoing person, is fluent in French, plays the cello, and studied cooking in Paris. According to Christian, Mia refused to study martial arts at the age of 12, against her mother's wishes. She is tall and curvaceous. She is raven-haired with a sleek bob haircut.
The movie began shooting on Dec. 1 in Vancouver, and will hit theaters in February, 2015. It is produced by Michael de Luca and Dana Brinetti alongside EL James. Kelly Marcel wrote the initial draft of the screenplay with subsequent script work from Patrick Marber and Mark Bomback. What do you think about this new casting choice? Do you think Rita Ora will make a good Mia Grey? Why or why not? Let us know in the comment section below!
