The wait is finally over! Nike has officially revealed the first look of its highly anticipated DIOR x Air Jordan 1 shoes. And as expected, the Italian-made shoes look like a dream!
Supporting a white and grey upper, they have the “Air Dior” design accompanied by the iconic Jumpman Wings logo, with the background of an all-over print of high-quality Dior Oblique jacquard as the logo of the silhouette, which is created with the fine calf-leather symbolic of Maison Dior’s leather goods.
The sole is translucent, with an icy-shade exterior and a graphic beneath. The shoes also have a subtle contrast stitching paired with metallic chrome hangtags and nine eyelets. A similar Dior motif is scaled-down and etched into the insoles at a 50 percent scale.
The color of the shoes has been kept at a light shade of grey, adhering to the French atelier’s history. The color grey has been the staple hue of the brand since it was established in 1947.
The first look of the upcoming shoe was unveiled at the Dior pre-fall 2020 show during Art Basel in Miami Beach, Florida.
"I chose to collaborate with Jordan Brand because Christian Dior collaborated with the best American brands of his era," said Kim Jones, men's artistic director for Dior. "I love mixing together different worlds, different ideas — Dior and Jordan Brand are both emblematic of absolute excellence in their fields. To bring them together in this special collaboration is to propose something exciting and truly new."
As per the Air Jordan Dates Page, the French fashion label Dior has set the release date of the shoes somewhere in April 2020 at select Dior stores; an MSRP has not been revealed. The Jordan Release Dates page is a complete guide where all current and upcoming Air Jordan and Jordan Brand sneaker’s confirmed release dates, price, size information, and much more can be found.
It is rumored that the launch is going to be rather limited with only about 1,000 pairs of Dior x Air Jordan 1 High OG to reach the stores, that too at a hefty price tag which is set at a whopping $2,000 USD.
