A 17-month baby boy was attacked by a dog at Liverpool Park and had to be immediately transported by air ambulance to a hospital. The infant was reportedly playing on a swing when the dog suddenly attacked him.
According to reports, the child ended up with a leg injury that was not life-threatening. The dog was captured by authorities and are now looking for the owner who will be subject to questioning.
The boy was attacked at the Marian Gardens, Netherton Merseyside just before 1:25 p.m. on Feb. 7. Emergency responders were spotted at the scene after the incident was reported to authorities.
Investigation on the incident is ongoing. But the owner will have some explaining to do. A look at the signs put up in the park, there was a “dogs off leads zone” across a pathway from the play area. The sign also stated that owners must keep their dogs under control. It was not mentioned if the dog could have possibly been a stray.
Local authorities are seeking help from anyone who may know about the incident. They can be reached at @MerPolCC on Twitter or through the 'Merseyside Police Contact Centre' Facebook page. It was the latest dog-related incident. A couple of days ago, a 25-year-old woman was killed after their rescue dog ravaged her at their home in the Kitts Green area of Birmingham.
The woman, identified as Keira Ladlow, was alone lying in bed at their home before the dog reportedly chewed off her arm. Police and paramedics responded to the scene but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The dog was said to be rescued after Ladlow found it in a garden. The canine was allegedly on and off for four years there according to Abeygail Barrett, said to be a relative.
“Sometimes dogs are rescued with all good intentions but their past can make them tragically unpredictable,” she stated.
