A popular YouTuber is spending a month in pitch-black solitary confinement, live streaming his psychological struggles for millions of viewers.
The 19-year-old streamer, known as Norme, has made a name for himself for stunts like eating a cactus and attempting to set a sleep-deprivation record. Through stunts, Norme has gained a reputation for pushing the limits to entertain his 1.2 million subscribers and viewers.
Norme's latest challenge, which began October 16, aims to test his endurance by spending a month in total darkness and isolation, risking his mental well-being in the process, The Gamer reported.
Over 22 days in, Norme's physical and mental strain is increasingly visible as he exhibits signs of distress, talking incoherently, smashing items, and even biting his surroundings.
Viewers go between feeling worry and skepticism, with some believing his actions are exaggerated for attention, while others feel genuine concern for his deteriorating state.
"Not smart to play around with this. Solitary is maddening," a viewer commented.
"He's just attention seeking. I've done months in real solitary and it's not that bad," another viewer added.
With just days left, mental health advocates warn of potential long-term impacts, highlighting that even if he reaches his goal, the psychological effects may be severe.
