Mikey Tyson and Jake Paul appear to be close to a deal that would see both in the boxing ring soon. Both sides are reportedly in advanced talks in a potential £36 million exhibition fight in Las Vegas.
This was allegedly according to the representatives of the YouTuber in a report from the Sun.
“A verbal deal has been struck to get it on, but like all forms of sports business, now it's all about the contracts and money split,” an unnamed source said in the report.
Hence, there is a chance that Tyson could be back in the ring again after a comeback fight in 2020. He faced another retired boxer in Roy Jones Jr. which ended in a draw. But in the eyes of most, the former and many-time boxing heavyweight champion won that fight handily.
As for Jake Paul, most know how he has gone on an unusual journey to face different athletes in the boxing ring. He is 5-0 in his boxing career, his last win coming off Tyron Woodley via a stunning knockout in the sixth round.
Aside from Woodley, who he fought twice, the 25-year-old has also faced Nate Robinson, Ben Askren and British YouTuber Deji Olatunji.
However, facing Tyson is a bit different. Aside from being a known boxer, there is a big chance Paul could be seriously hurt in their alleged encounter.
“Jake obviously has that on his mind but is keen to show the world that stepping into the ring with a man once called the baddest man on the planet, takes his boxing career to the next level,” the source added.
To make up for the daunting advantage that Tyson holds, Paul is much younger. There is a 31-year age gap between the two, something that could bridge the gap between the old school boxing fans and the new generation.
