One member of the royal family was cast in the 2009 film “The Young Victoria.” But is this allowed?
The film featured Princess Beatrice as one of Queen Victoria’s (Emily Blunt) ladies in waiting. “The Young Victoria” was produced by Martin Scorsese and Sarah Ferguson, and this is how the 31-year-old royal was cast in the project. Miranda Richardson was also cast in the movie as Queen Victoria’s mother.
The movie chronicled the early life of Queen Victoria, as well as her reign. The late royal is related to Queen Elizabeth II. Princess Beatrice was a good choice for the role since she also shares a special link to Queen Victoria. The newly engaged royal was named after one of Queen Victoria’s children.
Unfortunately for Princess Beatrice, her own grandmother wasn’t very pleased with the movie that she starred in. Her Majesty reportedly became upset with all of the historical inaccuracies featured in the project.
And since royals are not allowed to appear in films, have their own social media accounts and have their personal websites or blogs, royal fans are wondering why Princess Beatrice was able to star in “The Young Victoria.” The reason behind this is quite simple.
Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie may have been given royal titles, but they’re not considered to be working royals. This means that they have their own careers, and they don’t receive salary from the Queen. As such, the royal restrictions do not apply to them.
On the contrary, Meghan Markle had to give up her successful acting career when she joined the royal family last year. This is because the Duchess of Sussex married Prince Harry, who is a working royal. Since the Duke of Sussex is a working royal, his wife automatically became a working royal as well.
Meghan also had to close down her lifestyle blog, The Tig, and also deleted her personal social media accounts. But royal fans can get updates from her and Prince Harry via their official Sussex Royal Instagram account.
Prince William and Kate Middleton also don’t have personal social media accounts. But they use their official Kensington Palace Instagram and Twitter accounts to share updates, photos and more to their followers.
