Its no secret that social media has taken over the world and has revolutionized communication by making local news go viral, helping revolutions around the world and serving as a tool for celebrities and politicians to speak directly to their followers. The popularity is so strong that now there is the world's first Twitter hotel in Spain.
Yes, you read that right. Spain is now home to the Sol Wave House which is a marriage between the real world and the virtual world. Created by Spain's Melia brand of hotels, the hotel is in Majorca and offers an exquisite experience to its customers.
"The majority of our client profile, young and social, looking for new experiences and emotions shared with a virtual community that always wants to expand," explains the hotel in a press release. "With #SocialWave we wanted to respond to this aspiration, which joins the impressive quality and design of our product and the outstanding beauty of the environment."
For instance, visitors have access to a Twitter concierge and a Twiter Party Suite that offers concierge assistance to those residing in the hotel. Using #SocialWave hashtag will allow guests to communicate and converse with hotel staff and the check-in desk. Guests can also order room service, drinks or put in special requests using hastags.
"We merge the real and virtual worlds to create a totally new experience. Something never seen before," reveals the hotel on its website. "We connect the hotel and everyone in it to their own social community where they can meet, interact, have fun, compete, experience, flirt, tweet, and much, much more..."
Currently, the hotel's Twitter account (@SolWaveHouse) has 1,180 followers.
