A World Cup player had a whole gaming PC rig shipped to his team's camp in Doha so that he could play Fortnite during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford likes playing Fortnite and had previously taken gaming laptops with him while on national duty so he could play on his off days. However, for the World Cup in Qatar, he got a whole gaming PC rig shipped to his cap so that he could play Fortnite, Game Rant reported.
The monogrammed container that arrived has a "proper bit of kit." A laptop, with a custom-built, full-size screen included so that the visual experience on the road matched what he was used to at home.
The England national team is accommodating out of Tivoli's Souq Al Wakra Hotel Qatar located in the Middle Eastern country's capital of Doha. Pickford's gaming setup traveled over 4,200 miles (6,850 km) so that Everton keeper could continue playing Fortnite during the World Cup. Since his team just made the quarter-finals, his gaming sessions in Qatar are bound to continue.
The Euro 2021 Golden Glove winner says it's something he plays with the lads, and four years ago at the last World Cup with the England squad. In this running World Cup for almost a month, he's far from the only person who had been playing Fortnite in his downtime, Kotaku reported.
Fortnite is not the only hit battle royale game that has been extending its sphere of influence into the world of soccer. In the run-up to the ongoing FIFA World Cup, PUBG Mobile teamed up with Lionel Messi on a massive, soccer-themed update that introduced time-limited items and cosmetics to the game. All content added to PUBG Mobile as part of its Football Carnival update is available at least until Dec. 18.
In one such case from 2020, mobile exclusive Garena Free Fire partnered with Cristiano Ronaldo by not just adding him as a playable figure, but building an entire in-game universe around the legendary forward.
Fortnite is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
