32-year-old Cleveland woman Shena Hardin was ordered to hold up a sign that read:"ONLY AN IDIOT WOULD DRIVE ON THE SIDEWALK TO AVOID A SCHOOL BUS."
On Tuesday, November 6, a camera had caught Hardin passing a school bus that was unloading children going to school. Already a major traffic violation, Hardin's crime was far more outrageous-- she passed the bus by aggressively driving over the sidewalk. What's more, this was not an isolated incident. Shena Hardin is a compulsive repeat offender.
Thanks to the amateur footage and a well coordinated police sting, Shena Hardin was caught in the act. Filmed inside the school bus, supervising adults and kids alike cheered when Hardin in her Jeep Compass crossover was pulled over by a waiting squad car.
A closed case, a judge of the Cleveland Municipal Court had sentenced Shena Harden with a license suspension for 30 days, $250 in court costs, and finally community service by holding up a sign that identified herself as an idiot.
Shena Hardin was a recognized menace to the neighborhood long before holding the sign. Bill Lipold, a resident of the Cleveland town, yelled at Hardin while she held the sign. "Why do you hate kids?"
Two schools are located within two blocks from the busy street where Hardin would deliberately pass the stopped school bus, making the population of young children in the area particularly dense.
A staff from the nearby Academy of Excellence childcare center said, "Children are at extreme high risk and not to mention other pedestrians that are walking on the street also. The driver herself, she could have run into a tree or into a house and cause bodily damage to herself!"
