A woman has been reported dead in a drowning accident that was tragically livestreamed on her Facebook page in Chatsworth, Ontario on Aug. 18.

The deceased woman, identified as Hellen Nyabuto, originally from Kenya, had reportedly started a livestream of herself spending time at the outdoor pool of a hotel in Chatsworth, a township in Ontario, on Aug. 18, when things took a tragic turn.

In the footage moments before her death, Nyabuto can be seen smiling at the camera before she goes for a swim in the shallow end of the pool, New York Post reported.

About three minutes into the video, however, Nyabuto swims toward the deep end of the pool and can be seen struggling in the water as she calls out for help. The livestream then abruptly came to an end shortly after other hotel guests arrived at the scene and discovered Nyabuto unresponsive in the water. The video that was available on Nyabuto's Facebook page has since been removed from Facebook.

Following the discovery, officers from Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police, the Chatsworth Fire Department, and paramedics arrived at the hotel just before 6 p.m. They removed Nyabuto from the water and attempted life-saving measures to no avail. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, NBC News reported.

A spokesman for the Ontario Provincial Police said that the woman's death is not considered suspicious. Nyabuto moved to Canada four years ago in 2018. She has since been working at a long-term care residence in the northwestern Toronto suburbs.

Nyabuto's sibling, Enock Nyabuto, said on a GoFundMe page that Nyabuto was "full of life" and had a "warm smile and a charming heart."

Enock added that everyone who met Nyabuto "had their spirits lifted."

"She was passionate about her work and she touched many hearts," Enock concluded.

Meanwhile, Alfonce Nyamwaya, a close friend of Nyabuto, revealed that she was the breadwinner for her family in Kenya.

"She’s been supporting them, and it’s left a big gap," Nyamwaya said. "We need prayers. We need financial support."

Nyabuto has not returned to her home country since she moved abroad to Canada. Her family is working hard to raise enough money to send her body back to Kenya for a funeral service.
