Woman Crushes Husband's Head With Concrete Block For Allegedly Speaking To Another Woman On The Phone

A woman allegedly killed her husband by crushing his head with a concrete block after suspecting that he was speaking to another woman on his mobile phone in Palode, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India on Tuesday, March. 1.

The accused, Soumya, 34, reportedly suspected that her husband Shiju, 37, was having multiple extra-marital affairs and regularly engaged in heated arguments with him over the issue. On Tuesday, March. 1, when the couple escalated a similar confrontation, Soumya, in a fit of rage, picked up a concrete block and allegedly crushed Shiju's head with it, killing him instantly, the New Indian Express reported.

Shiju, who worked in the Middle East, returned home only 10 days before the incident. On Tuesday, Shiju and Soumya attended the Sivaratri festival at a temple near their home. After Soumya returned home from the temple at around 10:30 p.m, she saw Shiju talking to an unidentified person over the phone.

Suspecting that he was speaking to another woman, she told Shiju to hand over the mobile phone. However, Shiju vehemently refused to do so. The couple then got into a heated altercation, following which Soumya picked up a concrete block and allegedly bludgeoned Shiju in the head from behind. Soumya had allegedly thrashed Shiju's head repeatedly in anger, crushing his skull and disfiguring his face beyond recognition, the Times Of India reported.

Following the murder, Soumya then returned to the temple festival and told relatives that she killed Shiju. When the relatives came home, they found Shiju's body lying in the kitchen with pieces of his bloodied head scattered all over the place.

After the violent incident, the authorities took Soumya into custody. However, she could not be questioned immediately as she remained uncooperative.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a woman identified as Michiko Ota, 70, has been arrested after she reportedly murdered her ailing husband Ryuichi, 69, using a one-liter bottle of water at their apartment in Tokyo, Japan on Nov. 13, 2021, at around 8:30 a.m, Latin Times reported.

Ryuichi was reportedly receiving level 1 nursing care after he injured his back. On Nov. 13, 2021, the elderly man was scheduled to visit his day rehabilitation center. However, he complained of back pain and expressed his disinterest in going to the facility. This enraged Ota and the couple reportedly engaged in a heated argument.

During the altercation, Ota allegedly lost her temper, picked up a one-liter water bottle that was lying nearby, and bashed her husband Ryuichi in the face and back with the heavy container. After hitting her husband, Ota stormed out of the house in anger. However, when Ota returned home about five hours later, she found her husband lying unresponsive on the floor.

Ryuichi was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment but died shortly after. The doctors stated that the man had suffered a fractured rib and several other injuries to his skull from the attack.
