A woman has been accused of brutally killing her daughter-in-law over a property dispute and then proceeding to dismember the victim's body and carry the woman's severed head to a police station in Rayachoti, Andhra Pradesh, India on Thursday, Aug. 11.
The accused woman, identified only as 55-year-old Subbamma, allegedly had a quarrel with her 35-year-old daughter-in-law Vasundhara over property issues on Thursday morning, Aug. 11. After their confrontation, Subbamma invited Vasundhara for lunch at her home with the intention of killing her. When Vasundhara entered the residence, Subbamma and her close relatives allegedly attacked her and the suspect stabbed Vasundhara with a sickle, the Hindu reported.
After murdering Vasundhara, Subbamma allegedly severed the victim's head. The matriarch then allegedly walked almost six kilometers lugging her daughter-in-law's decapitated head to reach the Rayachoti Town Police Station. The police officers in the station were shocked after Subbamma surrendered herself carrying the severed head. She reportedly confessed to the murder and said that she had killed her daughter-in-law Vasundhara over a property dispute.
According to Subbamma, she attacked Vasundhara in self-defense after the victim and her relatives tried to kill her. Following her confession, the police officers took Subbamma into custody and sent Vasundhara's remains to the coroner's office for an autopsy. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway in connection with the incident, the Times Of India reported.
