Mexican songstress Paty Cantú, Brazilian-born David Correy and Puerto Rican Wisin, from Wisin &Yandel, united their musical powers to deliver an amazing song that serves as Coca-Cola's official theme for the World Cup 2014. With the name "La Copa de Todos," this will be one of the anthems expected to be blasted on the speakers of the biggest soccer party in the world, set to begin June 12, 2014 through July 13, 2014 at the Maracaná stadium in Brazil. "This is a song that tries to unite borders only focusing on the hearts of people. We do hope everyone feels joy, and feels inspired to dream to make their goals come true," said Cantú of the song.
This new single brings a positive message and encourages players from all countries competing to bring the best of themselves, not only to their game, but to their everyday lives, to live the competition like it's the best thing that has ever happened to them and to enjoy every second of it. The singers also make reference to the need to see soccer as a sport that unites countries. The video is another masterpiece of Jessy Terrero, and it was shot in Mexico with the participation of Brazilian artist Speto, who added more color as he painted one of his famous murals.
The song, which is reminiscent of K'naan's "Wavin' Flag," another World Cup hit, was first introduced in June in a Brazilian version performed by singer Gaby Amarantos in Portuguese. Coca-Cola released the English-language theme in September at the start of the Coke-sponsored FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour sung by David Correy, a finalist of season 2 of "The X Factor." This new Spanish version was just released this month, and is mostly sung by Cantú, with Correy's chorus and Wisin's catchy rap.
Cantú worked along with Correy and Wisin to write this version, and in a press conference, she expressed that she loved the whole experience. "As a composer, there have been many great opportunities that have presented to me, however, this has been the biggest one. Not only because it gave me the chance to write something that will be listened worldwide and transmits a lot of happiness, but because I was able to work with other great artists, composers and producers."
