An infuriated housewife was arrested by officers of the Delta State Police Command on Monday, after it came to light that she had hacked her husband to death in a fit of rage. Okiemute Dafe, a resident of Kulup Street, off Ekrejegbo in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state, had gotten into a domestic misunderstanding with her husband. The heated argument led to the husband storming out of their home, only to return the next day.

Upon spotting her husband arrive at her doorstep the next day, Dafe’s anger knew no bounds and in no time, and struck him on the head with a machete. As cited on Emmanuel’s blog, Dafe had allegedly stabbed the victim before using a cutlass on him.

Consequently, he sustained severe cuts before being rushed to a nearby hospital— Ughelli Central Hospital – by neighbors. However, it was a bit too late as he was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital. Dafe, who seemed to panic after observing the gravity of the situation, attempted to flee the scene but was nabbed by youths and neighbors.

Livid at the gory crime the woman just committed, the angry mob attempted to punish her by setting her ablaze. She was however rescued by cops from the Ughelli Police Area Command. The mob’s fury however led them to follow the police team to the station, and they allegedly attempted breaking into the station but were eventually dispersed after officers fired gunshots in the air.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, addressed the incident and attributed it to domestic disharmony. The police spokesman confirmed that Okiemute had been arrested, but refused to disclose much as further probe into the matter followed by an investigation was underway.
