Former United States President Donald Trump has never had a good relationship with Meghan Markle and that will remain for now. Like many who saw the Duchess of Sussex on the Oprah Winfrey interview, the 74-year-old felt it was “no good” but opted not to make it public according to his former adviser Jason Miller.
Miller shared the thoughts of the former commander-in-chief on the Markle and Prince Harry interview when he appeared on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast last Wednesday. Trump bats that it was something he had perceived in the past and it is now showing.
However, Trump played it safe and is believed to be aware of the backlash or repercussions if he made his thoughts known publicly. Piers Morgan was singled out as an example, someone who got canceled after saying negative comments about Markle.
“You realize if you say anything negative about Meghan Markle you get canceled, look at Piers (Morgan),” Trump allegedly said according to Miller.
For those who may not be aware, Morgan left “Good Morning Britain” following a clash with a co-star after criticizing Markle. He would later admit that he lost his job for refusing to apologize for his comments about the Duchess of Sussex.
Ofcom revealed that it received more than 41,000 complaints about Morgan’s comments. Unsurprisingly, one of them included Markle. Aware of that, it is believed to be the reason why Trump opted to play it safe.
Also, it would be best to note that Trump had his share of criticism of Markle in the past. This includes lashing out at the Duchess of Sussex for saying that the 74-year-old was divisive and misogynistic ahead of the 2016 elections.
Finally, the fact that Markle and Prince Harry endorsed Joe Biden for the 2020 US Presidential elections. Trump admitted in a press briefing that he was not a fan of Markle and even threw in some jabs thereafter.
“And I would say this — and she probably has heard that — but I wish a lot of luck to Harry, because he’s gonna need it,” Trump said back then.
