The Pennsylvania woman widowed by the July assassination attempt on Trump's life will return to the site where her husband died to attend an upcoming Trump rally.

Helen Comperatore's invitation to the upcoming Oct. 5 rally came from the former President himself, who plans to honor Corey Comperatore, who lost his life shielding his wife and daughter from gunfire meant for Trump.

"I think that's something that we all have to learn to get over," Corey's widow told Trib Live. "It's just so traumatizing," she said.

Comperatore describes the media attention in the wake of the July 13 assassination attempt as "out of control," saying there was "media everywhere," even at the homes of the daughters she shared with her husband of 28 years. "I was not prepared at all," she added.

It was a relief when things calmed down. "We just felt like we had no time to really grieve," she said. "We needed that time to break down, to just be able to breathe. We were grateful that everybody left and left us alone."

On Oct. 5th, Trump and media representatives will return to the Butler Farm Show Grounds where, Trump told Musk during an interview, he plans to pick up where he left off in his speech, "prior to being so horribly interrupted..."

Comperatore admitted feeling apprehensive but said she won't let fear stand in her way. "I'm gonna do a lot of praying," she said. She added that the decision was "ultimately to honor her husband," and is willing to speak to the crowd if asked.

When asked about her husband's legacy, she said, "I definitely don't want him remembered for anything political." She described the firefighter and devoted father of two as "a great dad, a great divider," who loved his children and "was there when they needed him."

"I know in my heart that he probably has no regrets, and that would be Corey," she said.
