Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were reportedly cold toward Kate Middleton, especially during the early years of her marriage to Prince William. Today, Princess Eugenie’s relationship with the Duchess of Cambridge has improved.
The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson became upset with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge after they refused to invite her then-boyfriend Dave Clark to their 2011 royal wedding. Prince William used to be friends with Princess Beatrice’s ex-boyfriend, but they had a falling out after the future king felt that he was being indiscreet.
In 2016, Prince William was also tagged in Princess Beatrice’s breakup with Dave. The dad of three felt that his former friend abused his trust, so he decided to cut ties with him. This decision left Princess Beatrice feeling devastated.
“William isn’t a huge fan of Dave,” a source told Daily Mail four years ago. “It’s fair to say that if Beatrice had asked the Queen for permission to marry Dave, and she, in turn, asked William privately for his view, she may not have been given a glowing report. Dave is a nice guy and he makes Beatrice happy, which is important. But William has always been wary of him. There is a clash of personalities,” the source added.
Last year, the royal siblings reportedly had a tense showdown with the Cambridges during the Easter service at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. An insider claimed that things were so icy between the royals that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie even refused to stand with their cousin and his wife.
And in return, Kate is also aware that Prince Andrew and Fergie’s daughters are troublemakers. According to Express, Princess Eugenie previously took her sister’s side during the early years of her feud with the Cambridges. But the 29-year-old has now forged a better relationship with Kate and Prince William.
Growing up, Prince William and Prince Harry appeared to be close to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. After all, their ages are quite close to each other.
