Princess Diana went through a lot during her marriage to Prince Charles. But even before the couple started dating, the Princess of Wales already suffered a lot as a child.

While speaking with Daily Mail, astrologer Debbie Frank revealed that the mom of two reached out to her to ask for help on how to control her emotions. According to Frank, Princess Diana went through a lot of pain as a kid because her mom, Frances Shand Kydd, abandoned her at such an early age.

Princess Diana didn’t also have a wonderful relationship with her stepmom, Raine, Countess of Dartmouth, in the beginning. But the astrologer said that this changed over the years.

“She managed to overcome her hostility towards her stepmother Raine, suddenly it was, ‘Thank you for looking after my father,’” Frank said. “But she couldn’t with her mother. There was a wounded child in there. Even the last time I met her in July before she died, she recounted the story of her mother leaving and packing her dresses into the car,” she added.

And to make things worse, Princess Diana was also impacted negatively by the fact that her parents wanted to have a son so badly. This was the only way for someone to carry the Spencer family line.

Prior to her birth, the late royal’s parents had a boy, whom they named John. Unfortunately, he died shortly after he was born. After Princess Diana’s parents had her, they didn’t seem too delighted because she was a girl.

“[Diana] understood that her mother probably had postnatal depression and the son who died had a massive bearing. Diana was carrying all of her mother’s depression about that, the sense that as a girl she was a disappointment,” she said.

But it has also been revealed that Kydd denied the allegations that she wanted her third child to be a boy after losing John. During a previous interview, Kydd also said that she understood what Princess Diana must have felt growing up because she experienced the same thing from her parents.

“My parents had hoped for a son and I think the most accurate description of my arrival was ‘large eyes, long legs, and the wrong sex,’ Just like Diana,” Kydd said.
