Princess Diana is one of the world’s most famous fashion icons and even up to now, her style influences on dressing still inspires women. From casual clothes to formal gowns, the Princess of Wales dresses so well, proving that she has great fashion sense. No wonder, she has been included in the list of best-dressed women in history.

Eleri Lynn, the curator of “Diana: Her Fashion Story,” an exhibit of the princess’ most iconic outfits, including those she worn high-profile trips, said that it was not simply her standards for dressing in public that made her a fashion icon and a trendsetter but it was the splendid evolution of her style.

“What’s amazing to me, when you first meet Lady Diana Spencer in the exhibition, you meet her in her debutante dress from 1979,” Lynn told Vanity Fair in 2017. “And it’s very frilly, very lacy, and very far removed from the fashion icon that she would become.”

Princess Diana can certainly wear anything and her apparent interest in fashion led her to work with well-known designers. However, there is one designer brand that she stopped wearing after Prince Charles cheated on her and they eventually divorce.

According to Harper’s Bazaar, after her split from Charles, the princess can no longer bring herself to wear Chanel. It was the Australian designer Jayson Brundson who revealed this fact for the first time. He added that Princess Diana wants to avoid anything with the Chanel logo and the reason was heartbreaking.

Brundson narrated that in 1996, the Princess of Wales visited Australia and his friend Joh Bailey was appointed as her hairdresser and he invited him to be his assistant for the day. The designer said that after Bailey finished her hair, Prince Charles’ ex-wife told them that what she will wear but she doesn’t know what accessories to use with it. Bailey suggested that Brundson can help her with it so she showed him her items.

"She went back to her bedroom and she came out holding like handfuls of shoes and bags and just dumped them all down on the couch,” Brundson narrated. “Then she said, 'what do you think?' so I went through them all and I found a pair of Chanel shoes, and I said, 'well these would look great with the Versace' and she said 'no.’”

The Australian designer disclosed that Princess Diana confessed she can’t wear “linked Cs, the double C,” and when he asked the reason, she said it’s because “it’s Camilla and Charles.” Apparently, the famous Chanel logo is painful for the princess because it reminds her of Prince Charles’ extra-marital affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.
