Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson were detained by police officers outside Buckingham Palace on Sarah’s hen do. According to a royal biographer, the officers didn’t recognize the Princess of Wales.
While speaking with Daily Mail, royal expert Sarah Bradford said that there was always trouble afoot whenever the two female royals would get together. On Sarah’s hen night, the two women dressed up as policewomen.
“On Fergie’s hen night, she and Diana wore grey wigs, dressed up as policewomen, and pretended to arrest a ‘prostitute’ outside Buckingham Palace,” Bradford said. “They were put in a police van until one of the policemen recognized Diana. He was so shocked he couldn’t believe it,” she added.
The hen do incident was not the only time that Princess Diana and Sarah engaged in hilarious antics. After Fergie wed Prince Andrew, they went to Klosters, Switzerland, for a quick vacation with Prince Charles and Princess Diana.
While there, the royal couples attended a photo-call. Michael Cole, a former BBC royal correspondent, said that Princess Diana and Fergie agreed to have a snow fight to show their sense of fun. However, their husbands thought that their wives were actually fighting.
“At a photocall in Switzerland, the Prince and Princess of Wales and the Duke and Duchess of York had skied down to have a group photograph,” he said. “The princesses took one look and decided it was all far too tame. ‘Let’s have a go,’ she said to Fergie,” Cole added.
Princess Diana and Sarah proceeded to push each other hard in an attempt to dump each other in the snow. An unearthed photo shows Fergie pushing Princess Diana down while Prince Charles and Prince Andrew stare in utter shock.
“This horrified the royal husbands and they had to fight hard to stop them. The cameramen loved it,” he said.
Princess Diana and Sarah were best friends. The latter relied on the former for advice when it came to royal life. But the two women eventually had a falling out after Princess Diana noticed how drawn Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were to Sarah.
