As the third in line to the throne, Prince William, along with his wife, Kate Middleton, is one of the most visible royals to the public. However, fans won’t likely be seeing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for quite a while before they resurface once more this September.
The reason for William and Kate’s ‘disappearance’ from the public eye is that they’ll be taking a very long summer break. This break happens every year, according to Elle.
Prince William and Kate Middleton usually take a 2-month summer break from July until August yearly before returning by September, Hello reported. But the royal couple made an exception this year and will have one more engagement this August.
On Aug. 9, the Duke and Duchess will be hosting The King's Cup sailing regatta, which will take place in the English seaport town of Cowes. According to its site, the event is sponsored by Land Rover and is done to raise funds and awareness to eight of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s patronages.
There will be eight boats joining the race, which represent eight charities that the royal couple supports. Prince William and Kate will join the race, and each will skipper a boat.
After the event, William and Kate can go back to relaxing as they clear their respective schedules for the summer. Not much is known about how the Cambridges plan to spend their summer break this year. But it’s highly likely that they’ll take a trip to Balmoral Castle at some point so that the children can visit their grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip.
While William and Kate won’t be attending any public engagements until the upcoming regatta, they’ll probably be busy these days preparing for a party. Prince George will be celebrating his 6th birthday this July 22.
Last year, Prince William and Kate decided to celebrate Prince George’s fifth birthday on the private island of Mustique, which is located in the Caribbean archipelago nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. But none is known yet as to where they will hold George’s birthday celebrations this year.
