Kate Middleton will reportedly not be well known if not for Prince William. The statement came amid reports that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be splitting their charities from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Royal author Duncan Larcombe told The Sun that one of the reasons for the split has to do with Kate and Meghan’s different backgrounds. He also said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are actively trying to create their own team.
“Kate fell into the royal family over a long period of time,” he said.
Who would Kate be without Prince William? She certainly wouldn’t be well-known,” he added.
On the other hand, Meghan Markle would still be well known without Prince Harry, which means that she’s bound to have more opinions about her PR, how to promote themselves as a couple and what to do with their kids. Since Meghan used to work as an actress in Hollywood, she’s keen on taking control of her public image, unlike Kate.
One of the biggest differences between Kate and Meghan’s relationship with Prince William and Prince Harry, respectively, has to do with their age when they met each other. Kate and Prince William met while they were still studying at the University of St. Andrews. At that time, they were roughly 19 years old.
Meghan and Prince Harry, on the other hand, were already adults when they met each other. Meghan was already a successful actress who was worth millions three years ago.
“Meghan is no shrinking violet; she’s not going to sit back and take Harry’s lead on everything. She had a million followers on Instagram before she met Harry. Kate didn’t. So, there’s going to be a difference,” Larcombe said.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have also been together for years before they got engaged in 2010 and tied the knot one year later. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have only been dating for over a year when Prince Harry proposed to Meghan. The royal couple wed on May 19, 2018, at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.
