“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” season three has finally arrivd on Amazon’s Prime Video and while fans can watch the entire season in one go, series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino suggests that it'd probably be best if fans don’t binge-watch.
According to Sherman-Palladino, viewers should savor each episode before moving on to the next because there’s just so much to take in. “It's a lot to take in if you're bingeing,” the series creator told Glamour. “Every episode is so dense. I just personally feel like you should let it sit for a minute.”
Meanwhile her husband Dan Palladino, who is also a co-creator, agreed with his wife, but expects fans to binge-watch the third season anyway. After all, the availability of the entire season is what sets the programming of video on demand or streaming services such as Netflix and Prime Video apart from regular television and people are going to take advantage of that.
“I think a lot of people are going to want to go right into episode two after episode one, because it ends on a real note of conflict,” Mr. Palladino noted. “They're going to want to know what the hell's happening next. But it's up to people to decide.”
The co-creator couple also admitted that the pressure in coming up with season three is higher than the previous two seasons because each episode needs to be “more colorful and high-stakes than the next.”
Thus, they had to sort out thoughts and ideas and try to figure out what works with the story, which is a very tedious process. At the same time, they always have to keep the show’s fanbase in mind so they could come up with something that resonates with their audience.
“We know we have a fanbase, but we never take for granted that fans would forgive a sloppy scene, a sloppy story,” Dan Palladino said. “We always try to make it the best thing it can be.”
But all their hard work seems to be finally paying off. “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” season three has been getting good reviews from critics recently. For instance, Rotten Tomatoes gave it a rating of 83% based on 12 critic ratings at the moment.
