The new Miss Universe 2015 has been crowned and it is Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach from Miss Philippines. This after Steve Harvey had initially announced Ariadna Gutierrez from Colombia as the winner. The host had to apologize and the crown had to be taken off Ariadna, but the broadcast ended. Olivia Jordan from USA placed as second runner-up. Those who were cut following the Top 3 announcement were France (Flora Coquerel) and Australia (Monika Radulovic) who made it far in the competition and were really close at winning. Previously cut following the Top 5 announcement were Japan (Ariana Miyamoto), Thailand (Aniporn Chalermburanawong), Dominican Republic (Clarissa Molina), Curaçao (Kanisha Sluis) and Venezuela (Mariana Jimenez). Las Vegas sizzled as the quest to find the next Miss Universe 2015 went into full swing. Paulina Vega, from Colombia, handed over her crown to a new beauty queen tonight during the live show from Las Vegas. The pageant took place at the Axis Theatre from the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino where everyone's eyes were set to presence the crowning of the new queen. This year the event was broadcasted in the U.S. on FOX in English with hosts Steve Harvey and Roselyn Sanchez, while Spanish speakers were able to watch the show on the Azteca network with hosts Vanessa Claudio and Poncho De Anda. Performing during the lavish program are The Band Perry, Charlie Puth and Seal.
The winner of the beauty pageant was selected by a panel of judges from different backgrounds. Former Miss Universe 2012, Olivia Culpo was one of the celebrities qualifying the contestants hoping for the crown. Also on board were "Scream Queens" star Niecy Nash, former athlete and "Dancing With The Stars" champ Emmitt Smith and one of the most vile people in the world, Perez Hilton. Las Vegas got a taste of the beauty queens earlier in the week when they modeled swimwear, evening gowns and their national costume during a preliminary competition. The judges that determined the ladies that went on for the next rounds were: Erika Albies, Erin Brady, Julio Caro, Keiko Uraguchi, Nischelle Turner, Rocky Motwani and Zak Soreff.
