It has been discovered that Microsoft is building an all white Xbox One for Microsoft employees. A Reddit poster has revealed that Microsoft plans to gift the special edition white Xbox One to employees who have worked on the next-generation console. Employees who work in Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business will receive a free Xbox One, one year of Xbox Live, games, and a special achievement all on launch day.
On the Reddit post by KillerBYTE the user asked if the white Xbox One would ever be available to non-Microsoft employees. Larry Hryb responded that this could be possible "maybe waaaay in the future." Polygon inquired on the nature of his statement on the white Xbox One being available to the public was "a joking 'maybe.'" At this time there is no further information.
Since the announcement of the black Xbox One earlier this year Microsoft kept quiet about any plans for additional colored models of its next-generation console. With the jokes made by Hryb it's hard to tell if Microsoft is planning to release a special edition white variant to the public.
This is not the first time Microsoft has given free stuff to employees. In July 2010, for example, the company gave a free Windows Phone 7 device to every employee. The Xbox One is scheduled for a November 2013 release; there's no word on whether the white edition will eventually become available to everyone.
