Two women enjoying a swing ride accidentally plunged off a 6,300-foot cliff after their cable allegedly snapped. The shocking video of the incident has gone viral on social media.
The women were taking a ride over the Sulak Canyon in the Russian Republic of Dagestan, on the Caspian Sea.
In the video, the two men can be seen swinging as a man pushed the swing from behind.
All was well in the beginning and the women can be heard screaming in joy.
The swing chain suddenly broke and the seat flipped, tossing both women towards the edge of the steep cliff. Onlookers can be heard screaming in horror and seen rushing towards them.
The women miraculously survived the accident as they landed on a narrow wooden platform under the edge of the cliff.
"The girls got scared and sustained scratches, but neither of them suffered serious injuries. It is chilling to imagine what could have happened if they slipped when the swings were at a maximum height," a source told the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper.
The police have initiated an investigation into the safety of canyon swings which have been built near the Zubutli village.
According to the Ministry of Tourism in Dagestan, the swing "did not meet safety standards."
"As a result, the young women fell off the swing seat. Law enforcement agencies and other services are already conducting relevant checks to ensure that nothing threatens lives and health," the ministry said in a statement.
In another viral video, a South African mother was seen throwing her 2-year-old daughter from the first floor of a burning building. The incident reportedly happened on Tuesday, July 13, in a burning high-rise building in the city of Durban.
The 26-year-old mother, Naledi Manyoni, was on the sixteenth floor of their apartment building when protestors set the complex on fire.
The mother ran down the stairs holding her baby girl and made her way to a ledge above the street on the first floor. She then tossed the child into the arms of onlookers who were waiting below.
A BBC report confirmed that the mother and daughter are safe and were reunited shortly after the video was captured.
