President Donald Trump and Elon Musk were captured dancing on a catwalk at Mar-a-Lago in Florida over the weekend while wildfires burned across the Carolinas.
Going into Sunday, nearly 200 wildfires erupted across North and South Carolina, and more than 4,200 acres have burned since they began, according to ABC News. These troubles seemed worlds away from the president and "senior advisor to the president" Musk who were recorded dancing on a catwalk at Trump's resort in Palm Beach. Musk's 4-year-old son, X, was also in tow.
Social media users were not impressed with Trump and Musk's seemingly unperturbed demeanor despite evacuation orders going into effect in cities across the Carolinas.
"Donald Trump and Elon Musk (with his human shield) walk the catwalk at some event at Mar-a-Lago. So cringe," @ArtCandee wrote in an X post on Sunday, accompanied by a video of the event.

Another social media user accurately pointed out that Trump's weekend golfing trips, which he has taken five out of the last six weekends since he was inaugurated on Jan. 20, cost taxpayers more than $3 million each, per reporting by The Dispatch.
"Taxpayers shell out an estimated $3,383,250 EACH weekend Trump has a golf trip to his Florida Palace for fancy dinners and events. That being said Musk's fine with that, just need to fire more federal workers," @Frank_TIHZHO wrote.

As of Monday, the Carolinas remain covered in heavy smoke, CNN reported. Per Carolina Forest Fire, the wildfires are reportedly 30% contained across 1,600 acres.
