"Thor the Dark World" opens nationwide on Friday November 8, but the stars of the film will be out tonight for the red carpet premiere of the superhero sequel. Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman have returned for the action packed film taking place after the events of the first "Thor" movie and "The Avengers." Thor (Hemsworth) returns to Earth in the hope of protecting it and his own world from a great evil. Thor cannot do this alone and reluctantly asks for his brother's help. Loki (Hiddleston) is sitting in a prison on Asgard for his actions in "The Avengers."
Thor will have to work with his mischievous and ambitious brother in order to protect the realms from destruction. When he returns to Earth Thor is greeted by the woman he loves, Jane (Portman) but not in the way he hoped. Jane walks up to Thor and slaps him across the face twice. The first time is to make sure he is real and the second time is for not returning to Earth sooner, like he promised. "She's got little hands, so it wasn't too painful," Hemsworth joked about Portman's slaps to the face in an E! Online interview.
As most Marvel movie fans know, when the credits for "Thor the Dark World" roll the film is not over yet. There will be two extra scenes at the end of "Thor." The first will be a mid-credit scene and the second will play after all the credits have rolled. In the mid-credit scene (stop reading now if you don't want the full scene description) will feature Benicio del Toro and tease what to expect in the next "Avengers" film and "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Del Toro plays "the Collector" an elder of the universe who is given one of six infinity gems for safe keeping. After being given the gem, "The Collector" says "One down, five to go," referring to the remaining stones. The after credits scene will tease the next "Avengers" and "Thor" movies. The scene will show Thor and Jane reunited on Earth. Jane hears the familiar sound of Thor returning to Earth and runs to meet him. After Jane kisses Thor passionately we see a "beast from Jotunheim" destroying parts of London.
Tonight at 9:30pm ET and 6:30pm PT fans can catch a live stream of the "Thor the Dark World" red carpet premiere.
