Super Bowl XLIX is steadily approaching, and while people are fretting about placing bets, buying beer and cooking snacks, NBC Universo has quietly announced that not only are they debuting as the general entertainment cable channel for Latinos, but they are doing so by presenting the Super Bowl in Spanish! The new network, which is the evolution of mun2, will premiere Super Bowl XLIX on February 1st and offer comprehensive football coverage, nine consecutive hours of exciting football action and related entertainment on TV to viewers beginning at 2 p.m. In addition to the big game, viewers can watch behind the scene footage of the event and an exclusive interview with Katy Perry before her highly anticipated halftime performance with John Legend, and Lenny Kravitz.
The premiere of NBC Universo is no coincidence, with AT&T U-verse, Cablevision’s Optimum TV, Comcast’s XFINITY TV, Cox Communications, DIRECTV, DISH Network, and Verizon FiOS offering a limited one day free preview of the network, meaning all of these subscribers can tune in to Super Bowl XLIX in Spanish for free, over 74 million homes will have access to the programming event through their television provider. The network is also launching a new website and live stream capabilities, on Feb. 1, the network is streaming “La NFL en NBC UNIVERSO Super Bowl XLIX Pre-Game Show” online at nbcuniverso.com as a free preview of its TV Everywhere offering via desktop streaming.

An NBC Universo exclusive, we take a look back at the superstars who have graced the Super Bowl Halftime stage, and feature some of their best music.
4:00 PM — “Road to the Super Bowl”
NFL Films takes a look back at the 2014 NFL season on the Road to Super Bowl XLIX. Relive the moments and the drama that unfolded week-to-week across the NFL, and how the Seahawks and the Patriots defeated every rival on their way to Super Bowl Sunday.
5:00 PM — “La NFL en NBC UNIVERSO Super Bowl XLIX Pre-Game Show”
Features a mix of player interviews, highlights and news from Super Bowl week, team analysis with current and former Latino NFL players, team stats and storylines, an exclusive interview with Super Bowl XLIX Halftime performer Katy Perry and more.
6:00 PM — Spanish-language telecast of Super Bowl XLIX
The Spanish-language telecast of Super Bowl XLIX from Glendale, Arizona begins at 6 p.m. ET where the defending Champions, the Seattle Seahawks, will face the New England Patriots. The live coverage will be narrated by play-by-play announcer Rene Giraldo, along with color commentator Edgar Lopez and sideline reporter Veronica Contreras. The live coverage will also feature the Halftime Show starring best-selling international superstar Katy Perry.
