"Breaking Bad" ended last weekend with the story of Walter White wrapping up after five seasons, but Spanish speaking audiences will have its own take on the show in this new season. Walter Blanco will be the center of the story of a chemistry teacher that is diagnosed with lung cancer and turns to making meth to secure his family's financial future. Colombian actor, Diego Trujillo, will play the lead character in "Metastasis" and a new trailer has leaked on the internet that has given us our first look into the remake. "One of the most riveting series of all time finds a new voice in Metastasis," the voice-over says on the promo. "A fascinating re-telling that will capture Hispanic audiences like never before… The enduring characters; the gripping storytelling; the fact that everybody has a tipping point.”
Sony Pictures Television has sold the original version to more than 170 territories worldwide and the Spanish-language version is the only planned remake that has already sold to the UniMas network in the U.S. The adaptation will have to inevitably make sense in the country it takes place and the famous RV will be gone from the Colombian take. "Motor homes are not popular in Colombia," Angelica Guerra, Senior VP of SPT told The Hollywood Reporter, "Audiences will see Walter and Jose cooking up their first several batches of methamphetamine in an old, barely drivable school bus."
The title of the series, "Metastasis," is a reference of the spreading of the cancer the lead character has. At this moment no word on when it will air but you can catch a glimpse of what the series will look like down below. Tell us what you think of the "Breaking Bad" remake.
