Will Beth be Daryl's love interest? AMC

"The Walking Dead" Season 5 is shaping up to be the most heartpounding season yet as Rick Grimes and the crew will face the crazy cannibals of Terminus. Just so you know how intense the upcoming season will be, we recently reported that Glenn could possibly die in extremely gruesome fashion.

We know all too well the sadness and suffering that burdens the survivors in "The Walking Dead," but there's got to be a light at the end of the tunnel, right? Firstly, Beth was kidnapped in "The Walking Dead" Season 4. Thankfully, we learned in April that Beth is alive and will return in Season 5 thanks to an AMA session with series creator Robert Kirkman. Specifically, fans have been eager to see romance blossom between Daryl and Beth. Surely, the writers could at least give the fans something to look forward to.

"Daryl's interesting because there are the people who want him to hook up with Carol, there are the people who want him to hook up with Beth, there are the people who never wanted him to hook up because he's got to save himself for them," show producer Gale Ann Hurd said in an interview with Zap2it. "Regardless of what we do, I don't think we're ever going to make anyone happy."

If that's the case, the final option for Daryl is to soldier on as a loner. After all, it has served him well so far. As for fans of Beth, an interesting tweet in July claims that "The Fault In Our Stars" actor Ansel Elgort will play as Andrew in "The Walking Dead" Season 5. Could Andrew play as a love interest opposite of Beth?

Ultimately, Beth and Daryl romance or not, producer Gale Hurd says: "It wouldn't be 'The Walking Dead' without some tears. And no, I'm not going to say." Oh, brother. "The Walking Dead" begins on Sunday, Oct. 12. Stay tuned as we bring you more "The Walking Dead" news in the weeks ahead.
