A viral video circulating on Chinese social media depicts a severely ill man being wheeled on a hospital bed by his family into a bank to confirm his identity, reportedly as a last resort to access his own funds for medical treatment.

According to witnesses, the man's family pleaded with staff of the Shandong Province, explaining his critical condition and providing evidence of his hospitalization. Despite these efforts, bank employees insisted that he appear in person, Oddity Central reported.

Bank representatives suggested the family bring him by ambulance, but the hospital clarified that its ambulances were strictly reserved for emergencies, and the family couldn't afford a private one. This left them with no choice but to push the hospital bed through the streets and into the bank, a risky maneuver for the patient's fragile health.

The video sparked outrage online, with many social media users condemning the bank's rigid policy and demanding more compassion for families in such predicaments.

"The bank could have made an exception based on the evidence of hospitalization," one commenter argued.

Others criticized the incident as an "embarrassment" for Chinese society, questioning how such situations are allowed to unfold without intervention or accountability.
