Anticipation for ‘Vikings’ Season 6 is now at its highest as fans are stoked and excited to see how the plot for the series’ final season would pan out. To make the wait a bit bearable for fans, here are some of the most interesting spoilers and speculations that have been swirling around lately.
One of the saddest predictions of them all is the death of one of the most admired characters in the series. A number of outlets have already predicted the demise of Katheryn Winnick’s Queen Lagertha because of the Seer’s prophecy saying that she will die by the hands of one of Ragnar’s sons, who most believe to be Ivar.
But fans should still be able to see the brave warrior, at least in the first half of the season, according to ScreenRant. In fact, she might even enjoy a little retirement first before she is killed based on what “Vikings” creator Michael Hirst previously teased.
“There's actually a meeting in the beginning of the first episode of Season 6 in which the winners of the battle for Kattegatt decide what they're going to do,” Hirst told CinemaBlend. “And she says that she's going to retire, that she's done enough, that she's weary, that she nearly died, that the people she loved are dead.”
Another popular prediction is that a rematch between Bjorn and Ivar is likely to happen. To increase his chances of coming out victorious, Bjorn will enlist the help of a new ally this time, according to Express.
Based on the “Vikings” Season 6 preview, Redditor Omar_Elattar believes that the show could introduce a new character fashioned after “Erik The Red,” a historical character. The real Erik founded Greenland’s first settlement.
“[Bjorn] is standing with Erik right before that beach battle we see in the preview — where either Ivar will be attacking Bjorn, or Ivar will somehow end up helping and aiding Bjorn against another army,” Omar explained.
But Ivar might also have new allies of his own. There are also speculations that Ivar might come into contact with a new power, which will emerge from Kiev, Russia, as teased by Hirst.
“We go to a new place again,” the show’s creator previously told Express. “We’re going to Rus, which is Kiev, and the Rus Vikings. [There is] a new civilization there, a powerful civilization. There’s a new world the Vikings are going to become involved with.”
In a trailer released previously, Ivar was seen talking to someone — who was not shown on screen — amid a snowy background, which could be Russia, implying that he will come into contact with this new power and make appropriate arrangements. “We should unleash our forces against our brothers,” Ivar said.
