A video of a man fighting a giant anaconda to save his pet dog from its deadly clutches has gone viral on the internet. The heroic video was taken near the Brazilian state of Sao Paolo.
Carlinhos Brasil was with his pet dog, a pooch named 'Lion' when the deadly incident unfolded.
The giant reptile attacked the pooch when it was drinking water from a puddle.
"The anaconda grabbed him in the Nova Alianca neighborhood," Carlinhos told local media. "He went to drink water at a shallow pool there."
Carlinhos wasted no time and acted on his instincts to save his pet. He is seen grabbing a stick and repeatedly striking the serpent on its head. He then grabs a spade and strikes the serpent again until it released the dog.
"I hit the anaconda so it would release him. The guys said 'oh, if only I had a knife...'"
"No. It's a wild animal, it was hungry. Lion was there drinking water and it grabbed him."
However, the battle to save Lion didn't end there. The giant reptile's deadly clutches had left the poor dog unconscious.
Carlinhos gave him a cardiac massage for almost 40 minutes until he eventually opened his eyes and began breathing.
"I thought I'd lost my dog, but thank God he's here," he added.
Carlinhos revealed that the July 31 attack had left Lion with a few wounds on his neck, ear, and muzzle.
He took him to a veterinarian, who gave the dog a checkup and confirmed him to be in good health.
There are reportedly four identified species of anaconda, and the one in question was likely a yellow anaconda (Eunectes notaeus) or green anaconda (Eunectes murinus). The green anaconda is the heaviest and one of the longest known snake species.
The reptile that attacked the dog was said to be 4.6 meters (15.1 ft) long.
In another similar viral video, a highly venomous King Cobra was seen following a toddler into his home.
In the video, the child is seen playing on the floor in the front yard of his home in Vietnam’s Soc Trang, when his grandfather, who was standing right behind him, suddenly spots a serpent approaching the boy.
The man, however, could not react fast as he was still recovering from a stroke. The boy’s father who was sitting not too far away can be seen rushing for his son's rescue. The young man grabbed his son and rushed into the home and the grandfather slowly followed.
As the young man shuts the glass door, the venomous reptile can be seen swiftly slithering towards them. The snake tries to make its way into the home but returns after multiple failed attempts.
