‘Vampire Diaries’ Season 5 Spoilers: Are Damon And Elena Going To Break Up In Fall Finale?

Delena fans I have some bad news! Obviously you know that Damon and Elena aren't really on the best terms, following episode 9 "The Cell" but you may not have realized just how bad things are about to get. "Vampire Diaries" may be heading for heartbreak city instead of back home to Mystic Falls, Elena recently discovered that while she and Damon spent a steamy summer together he wasn't exactly truthful. Fans were able to get some serious history regarding the older Salvatore brother, Damon revealed that the vampire torture chamber in the Whitmore basement wasn't a new development. Damon was tortured for five long years in Dr. Whitmore's lab, he was poisoned with vervain by the doctor, as he performed gruesome experiment including cutting out parts of Damon's eyes, and organs. He stated that he was interested in how exactly vampires continually cured themselves, and he was curious in how he could use vampire blood to cure others. However, the charitable doctor ruthlessly tortured Damon, and another vampire, Enzo.

After escaping from the torture lab and returning to Mystic Falls, Damon sought off on a path of revenge. Elena only learned about his killing spree in last week's episode, when Elena thought they were spending time together, Damon was instead getting his revenge on the Whitmore family by killing everyone in the family's bloodline. However, his plan had a sinister twist, he left one member of the family alive, so the family continues, only to allow Damon to kill the next generation. The worst of this revelation was that we learned that Aaron is the last reaming Whitmore, and so did Elena. Obviously discovering that Damon has been lying to her and ruthlessly member an entire bloodline is enough to put a serious strain on any relationship.

Worse yet a new spoiler form TVGuide.com states that there could possibly be a major breakup! Say it isn't so! While I am blindly a Delena fan, the signs are there, their trust is broken, their relationship is a mess, and Caroline dropped that serious Damon bomb in episode 8, "Dead Man On Campus." So will Elena and Damon actually break up? It looks like they might. A new theory from Wetpaint suggest that Damon's killing spree will be the major wedge between the couple, and understandably so. Although, it's not just the murder of the Whitmore family that has Elena so upset, Damon may be responsible for driving the Gilberts off Wickery Bridge. If Damon was closely tracking the Whitmore family and the Augustine society, he would know that the Gilberts were involved, and that they were closely associated with the Whitmores. So if Damon did kill off Elena's parents, we are assuming she will never be able to forgive him.
