Uh oh! Things are set to get seriously rocky for Elena and Damon, and apparently it's all over him opening up to her, well, about his dark past. And while we know that some things are better left unsaid, apparently Damon was in the sharing mood. The synopsis for episode 9 of "Vampire Diaries" has us beyond excited, namely because flashbacks just add depth to the already enthralling Season 5 plot and we love to know more about Damon's love life before settling back into Mystic Falls. In the midst of Damon revealing a secret from his past, Elena becomes deeply disturbed by the news which leads her to turn to her new friend Aaron for some guidance.
But Elena's budding relationship with Aaron starts innocently enough. In episode 9, which is ominously entitled "The Cell" Elena attempts to patch up her relationship with Caroline, and while the two roommates are still at odds, they are on the road to recovery. After dealing with her friendship, Elena attempts to sort out her love life, with all the chaos brewing in Mystic Falls Elena "grows concerned about Damon," this concern and lack of available friends leads her to Aaron. According to the synopsis, Elena turns to Aaron for help, and this worry is before Elena learns of the dark time in Damon's life.
In addition to Elena's growing relationship with Aaron, Caroline refuse to give up on her friendship with Stefan. Stefan continues to be supportive of Katherine, while "trying to mask his own pain, until Caroline shows up with an unusual form of therapy." Uhhh...what? While we are seriously considered what type of therapy Stefan will undergo, there are even more pressing matters in episode 9. Mainly will Elena and Damon break up? According to the episode 9, "Damon tells Elena about a terrible ordeal in his past that he has kept secret for decades," Elena is devastated by the flashback, the news gets even worse when she puts the pieces together, after learning "some disturbing information about her own family."
Whatever Damon's past secret is must be truly terrifying to push Elena away. I mean, how much worse can it really get for the couple, they have faced death, explosions, werewolves, poison, and stuck it out. So we are thinking that Damon's secret must connect to Elena's family, more specifically we think the deadly vampire did something unforgivable. Delena fans, may want to take a seat, because this is truly a dagger through the heart, Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon on "Vampire Diaries" admitted to TV Line that relationships are tough, "Relationships are hard in life. Relationships are really hard in Mystic Falls, if you don't have conflict, you have no drama; and if you have no drama, you have no TV show. So relationships don't last that long in Mystic Falls."
