"Vampire Diaries" is getting even more twisted! In episode 5 "Monster's Ball" the mystery behind Nadia was revealed, when she admitted to being "Nadia Petrova" the daughter of Katherine Petrova. Nadia is exposed as Katherine's daughter born out of wedlock, she has been trailing her mother for 500 years trying to figure out the truth. The two are now finally reunited, and the mother and daughter pair reconnect. Katherine asks her now grown daughter where she was in 1498, Nadia cannot remember but learns that Katherine was desperately searching for her then.

After this heartwarming scene, Katherine returns to the Salvatore mansion. But the sweet feeling of finding her daughter does not last long for Katherine, who is held down by Damon so that Silas can drain her of her blood, thus ingesting the Cure. After Katherine is drained of her blood, fans expected the now human to die, however, moments later, Katherine suddenly awakens with her heart still thumping: "Am I in hell?"

This doppelgänger mystery will be uncovered in episode 7 "Death and the Maiden." Even though Katherine is still alive, she is given some "deeply disturbing news" from Dr. Wes. But how exactly is Katherine still alive? Some theories we are thinking is that Katherine has a hex on her, and will most of hexes are bad, maybe this one is good. Nadia is a Traveler meaning she is skilled in witchcraft, so perhaps Katherine's own daughter is behind her immortality.

But Katherine is not the only Petrova doppelgänger making shocking discoveries in episode 7 "Death and the Maiden." Amara makes a cameo in the latest installment and the original Petrova doppelganger is actually bringing good tidings, which is a surprise. The CW synopsis for episode 7 reads, "After a surprising conversation with Amara, Jeremy and Bonnie share a glimmer of hope." Is Amara alive or has she somehow crossed over into the other side, despite dying as a human?

The synopsis teases at the possibility of Amara assisting Bonnie with crossing back over into life? Despite dying as a human, Amara was once an Immortal and the hand maiden of Qetsiyah or Tessa, whatever you call her! So maybe the true love of Silas has a few tricks left up her sleeve? This is "Vampire Diaries" and one should never doubt the power of a doppelgänger!
