A woman who killed his mother coming back from a trip may be getting off easy although she will still be serving time. The only thing is that it will not be a life sentence due to an unusual law over in Moldova.

Accused of killing her mother is Anna Lejkovich, a 21-year-old said to have an unstable state of mind. She is also believed to be hooked to drugs, something that instigated the crime.

Killed was Parascovia Lejkovich in the city of Comrat who came home after a long-term work trip to Germany. An argument was sparked when she learned that Anna had become addicted to drugs.

Parascovia confronted her daughter and told her to change her ways and that she would need to go to rehab on Dec. 1 in Comrat. That did not sit well with the 21-year-old who took a knife and allegedly stabbed her mother multiple times in the chest.

The 40-year-old was left bleeding on the floor but was still alive at this point. However, Anna went to the extreme and cut her still-beating heart out.

Anna was detained not long after and put in a psychiatric hospital with the investigation ongoing. Vladimir Chimpoesh, former deputy prosecutor for the autonomous region of Gagauzia explained that because of a law in Moldova, the 21-year-old is unlikely to get a life sentence because of her gender.

When Anna appeared in court, she hardly showed any remorse. She responded with a laugh when she was asked if she was sorry for the crime.

Chimpoesh would later explain that a woman in Moldova cannot be sentenced to life imprisonment. Also, if the suspects admit to the crime, she stands to face a maximum sentence of 13 years and four months. Additionally, if a woman is found to have an unsound state of mind by psychiatric experts, the sentence could be further reduced.
