There are a lot of great movies and series over on Netflix, ably keeping folks occupied with most forced to stay indoors. A lot of new seasons and sequels have come out but “The Uncanny Counter” has yet to get one.
Following a good first season, “The Uncanny Counter” deserves a second season. The K-Drama is one of the popular series to check out on Netflix, not to mention one of the highest-rated series on South Korean channel OCN.
“The Uncanny Counter” has gained traction, being compared to the success of other flicks like “Alice In Borderland” and “Money Heist.” It touches on the story of a group of demon hunters at night as they fight off evil spirits that escape the afterlife to prey on mortals. It is based on the Daum webtoon by Jang Yi, Amazing Rumor.
So far it has garnered good ratings and is on the 12th episode which will be shown on Jan. 16. There are four left before the first season of “The Uncanny Counter” wraps up. From there, there remains no official word on whether a second season is happening.
However, an update from Soompi reveals that there are plans for a second season for “The Uncanny Counter.” Standing in the way are the schedules of the lead characters among others. If this can be addressed, there is a good chance that production for a second season may start by September and be released by the first half of 2022.
This appeared to be spot on with OCN responding and revealing that there are plans to make the action-packed fantasy horror series into a seasonal series. But all this should be taken with a grain of salt for now until an official announcement on the next steps for “The Uncanny Counter” is made.
There is no telling when an official announcement of a possible “The Uncanny Counter” would be made though it could surprise many. For now, it would be safe to say that the same cast (Byeong-gyu Jo, Joon-Sang Yoo, Se-Jeong Kim and Yeom Hye-ran) will still be around. That is unless something unusual (i.e. contract issues) happens along the way. Until the first season wraps up, the wait continues whether there will be an actual “The Uncanny Counter” season 2.
