The Nebraska Cornhuskers currently hold a national ranking of 23. Thanks to consecutive victories to begin their 2013 campaign, the Huskers are in prime position for a strong run in the Big Ten. Opening the season with a narrow 37-34 victory over the Wyoming Cowboys, Nebraska headed into the next week in much better form. Dismantling Southern Mississippi 56-13, the Cornhuskers showed tremendous balance on both sides of the ball, especially in the running department. Rushing for 285 total yards and 3 touchdowns, Nebraska established a legitimate ground attack, something they hope continues this weekend against the Bruins of UCLA.
The 16th-ranked team in the nation, UCLA opened its 2013 campaign with a 58-20 thumping of Nevada. Rising sophomore quarterback Brett Hundley threw for 274 and 2 scores while Jordon James excelled on the ground, rushing for 155 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown. In addition to the rushing dominance of James, UCLA as a team ran for 345 total yards and 4 additional scores. Through 2 games, the Nebraska Cornhusker defense has surrendered over 140 rush yards per game so if UCLA is able to get their backfield talent working early, they could really open up opportunity in the passing game for Hundley as well.
