President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday to slam Major League Baseball (MLB) and give late baseball star Pete Rose, who was convicted of tax evasion, a "complete pardon."

"Major League Baseball didn't have the courage or decency to put the late, great, Pete Rose, also known as "Charlie Hustle," into the Baseball Hall of fame. Now he is dead, will never experience the thrill of being selected, even though he was a FAR BETTER PLAYER than most of those who made it, and can only be named posthumously," Trump wrote.

"Baseball, which is dying all over the place, should get off its fat, lazy a**, and elect Pete Rose, even though far too late, into the Baseball Hall of Fame!" he added.

Rose, who died last year at 83, is the MLB's all-time leader in hits with 4,256. He was a star player for the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, and the Montreal Expos. He later served as manager for the Reds.

Rose was convicted of tax evasion in 1990 and served a five-month sentence. The year before, he was banned from the MLB over allegations he gambled on games he played in or managed. His ban also means he was ineligible to be inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame.
