President Donald Trump announced on social media that he is set to meet with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele on Monday, praising their ongoing partnership in combating global terrorism and organized crime.

In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump wrote, "Looking forward to seeing President Bukele, of El Salvador, on Monday! Our Nations are working closely together to eradicate terrorist organizations, and build a future of Prosperity."

Trump acknowledged that El Salvador has accepted custody of "some of the most violent alien enemies of the World and, in particular, the United States," referring to individuals who have been detained and transferred to a high security prison in El Salvador. "These barbarians are now in the sole custody of El Salvador, a proud and sovereign Nation," Trump said. "They will never threaten or menace our Citizens again!"

Bukele, known for his aggressive crackdown on gangs and organized crime, has drawn both praise and scrutiny for his hardline tactics. Trump has frequently lauded Bukele's approach as a model for how to restore law and order.

The White House has not yet released further details about the agenda for Monday's meeting, but officials suggest that regional security, immigration cooperation and economic development will be central topics.

The meeting comes amid the White House's refusal to comply with a court order to return Kilmar Abrego García, a Salvadoran citizen living in Maryland with a valid U.S. work permit since 2019. Officials admitted he was deported due to an administrative error, but has claimed they have no way to bring him back.

The summit underscores Trump's continued embrace of leaders who exercise authoritarian-style tactics and share his ideology on border control, national security and criminal justice.
