Saturday Night Live (SNL) opened with a spoof on the signing of the Declaration of Independence featuring Donald Trump (played by James Austin Johnson) where he referenced his new signed orders and dismantling diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs.

In the skit, Alexander Hamilton, played by Lin-Manuel Miranda, raps about John Hancock signing the document when Trump's character enters the scene, causing it to freeze.

The 4:32 clip, which was published on X by SNL, received 1 million views, over 1,900 shares and 16,000 likes.

"But just like the Founding Fathers, I am creating a new country as well," Johnson said.

"And just like them, we're doing it very wisely," he said. "DEI is over. It's dead."

Target, Walmart and McDonald's have rolled back DEI programs since the start of the year.

The scene poked fun at the attendees of the president's second inauguration, including Melania Trump, who Johnson referred to as a "surprise guest."

Johnson dubbed Trump's newly formed crew of tech billionaires that includes Jeff Bezos of Amazon, Tim Cook of Apple, Elon Musk of Tesla, and Mark Zuckerberg of Meta as his "nerd herd."

Johnson also addressed Musk's bizarre hand gesture at the president's inauguration, which many speculated was the Nazi salute, although the SpaceX CEO denied it.

"He simply was creating a new greeting," Johnson said as Trump. "A cross between Hi and Hello. We're calling it a Heil."

The skit ended with Trump expounding about his presidency.

"In conclusion, it's been a great week. I basically hit all my campaign promises, except for the one people cared about: the price of eggs. All time high," he said. "Who would have thought it'd be easier to get a ceasefire in Gaza then bring down the price of eggs?"

The skit received over 200 comments on X.

"Whoever came up with this is a genius," Emre Yurttas said. His comment received over 190 likes.

"Lin Manuel wanted to laugh so badly," a user named ginobilisaurus wrote.

"The amount of material you're going to have," JD said with a laughing emoji.

"This Trump is even better than Alec Baldwin's," wrote a user named Esama.

Last week, comedian Dave Chapelle advised Trump to have "empathy" for Palestinians his monologue while hosting SNL.

In December 2024, comedian Chris Rock hosted SNL where he mocked the killing of Brian Thompson, the UnitedHealthcare CEO saying, "Sometimes drug dealers get shot."
