Telenovela lovers met the intriguing stories of triplets Ana Laura, Ana Leticia and Ana Lucia with the premiere of "Tres Veces Ana" starring Angelique Boyer.
The new telenovela, which premiered Monday night on Univision, is an adaptation of the '90s mega hit novela "Lazos de Amor" starring Lucero. However, Boyer clarified to Latin Times that the plot was inspired by the classic telenovela, but is very different. "Tres Veces Ana" tells the story of triplets who become orphans after an accident. One of them gets lost and doesn't reunite with them until years later. Boyer plays the leading roles of Ana Laura (the melancholic sister), Ana Lucía (the free-spirited sister) and Ana Leticia (the villain sister).
Jumping on board the project is Argentine actor and novio Sebastian Rulli, who takes the leading male actor role of Santiago and Marcelo. Although the power couple has previously worked together in telenovelas, this is the first time they debut as official boyfriend and girlfriend. For Boyer, she couldn't have asked for a better co-star. Rulli feels the same!
Check out our Q&A with the leading star of "Tres Veces Ana," where he explained why everyone will be hooked with this show.
LATIN TIMES: How true is it that "Lazos de Amor" is a remake of "Tres Veces Ana"?
SEBASTIAN RULLI: I have not followed the original story from the nineties, but I think many people consider it a remake because it tells the story of three sisters who became orphans and separated after and accident. From what I've heard from the producers, "Tres Veces Ana" is completely different. Perhaps there are similarities in the characters, but the story and conflict have nothing to do with "Lazos de Amor."
LT: You portray two roles, Santiago and Marcelo. What can you tell us about that?
SR: My character is loses his memory after a car accident, but he remembers parts of it when he meets the girl who he sees in his dreams every night. He then realizes that he was married to the bad sister, but now he's in love with the good sister. Angelique's characters are very diverse and extreme, and so are mine. It's like the ying and yang, he's constantly fighting with himself. Santiago is the good guy. Marcelo is his past, his origines, his essence.
LT: Can you identify with any of your two roles?
SR: I think as actors, at one point or another, we can identify with our roles. Like Marcelo, I am strict and disciplined and like Santiago I am simple and humble.
LT: How is it working with Angelique Boyer and having your girlfriend as co-star?
SR: It's the third time we work together, but the first as boyfriend and girlfriend. For me it's always an honor to share the screen with her because she's one-of-a-kind and the best actress I know. I feel proud not only because she's my co-star but also of watching her grow and see how passionate she is with her career.
LT: Why should everyone watch "Tres Veces Ana"?
SR: The story will keep everyone glued to the screen with intensity. There's suspense, there's magic, there's passion. Angelique Boyer is another reason! Her three roles are spectacular. I think everyone in the cast is hooked with their character in "Tres Veces Ana."
