A prolific and dangerous Harrogate pedophile was sentenced to 22 years in prison at York Crown Court on Monday for targeting and abusing school-aged children between 1998 and 2016.
The predator has been identified as trans woman Jessica Brennan, 54, although she went by the name Allan Brennan at the time of committing most of the crimes. Brennan reportedly preyed on young schoolgirls, her youngest victim being just 4 years of age at the time of the incident, according to the Yorkshire Post.
During a 17-year period, Brennan had committed at least 86 separate sexual assaults on young girls, claimed Prosecutor Philip Standfast, noted Yorkmix.
She was convicted of attempted rape of a child under 13, assault of a girl under 13 by penetration, five counts of sexual activity with a child, assault by penetration, two counts of sexual assault, sexual activity with a child, and five counts of indecent assault on Monday, reported the BBC.
The investigation was spearheaded by North Yorkshire Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID). When questioned by detectives, Brennan fully denied the accusations and rebuffed any knowledge of the offenses raised against her.
Brennan was found guilty after a handful of her former victims resurfaced, some even abused 20 years ago, coming forward to speak to the North Yorkshire Police to support the investigation. North Yorkshire's law enforcement praised the bravery of the victims for standing up against the suspect.
Besides the custodial sentence, Brennan was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and was handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order as well, which will place strict restrictions on her when she is eventually released from prison. The judge also imposed a four-year extended period on prison license upon Brennan’s eventual release from jail.
The lives of the victims and their families were "shattered" by the "vile and dangerous pedophile," said Detective Con Rebecca Prentice.
"[The victims'] courage has ensured that Brennan has been put behind bars where she belongs for a very long time," she added.
“It’s never too late to report sexual abuse and if you have been a victim there are various ways you can report to police. You can call non-emergency number 101, go to a police station or speak to a support agency or charity listed on our website if you do not wish to speak to us. Always call 999 in an emergency,” Prentice instructed.
